There is an announcement in the new Hobby Hifi:
Expolinear is going to distribute Görlich drivers. Old price, half of the current elite Car audio stuff, and probably 8 Ohm. 13 and 17 cm will be available with rubber, foam and cloth surround, 20 and ...

You see, in my view, what those smaller labels and big labels do in term up-closed microphones and artificial reverberation (even though it NEVER done properly) is something that event delivers a small tactical advantage ...

Hello all!I have always loved purist stereo recordings that give me the impression of sitting in a real concert hall, and rather accept musical details being smeared than spacial information being lost due to the resolution limits of the pl...

Hello Romy!I don´t know what you find inconvenient about the Pacific and so I don´t know whether this includes all realtime converters. The RME converters have a lot of parameters to play with and they work synchronous, so I don´t expect the "invitin...

Well, I could reverse this with some effort, but then I will be asked every time I start it. Any other tricks to boil up these awful PCM layers?...

Sorry for reviving this thread without a good reason, but there is something I wanted to add to my comments about amplification. Recently I heard this system http://www.hornfabrik-eder.de/ which was driven by an old Telefunken studio amp. O...

Hello Romy!I suspect that Sony intentionally astablished a poor conversion algorithm, as well. I don`t think there more than a hand full SACDs that have a separately recorded/mastered PCM layer, maybe some more that use an other (non-Sony) ...

I ask myself wheter someone who belongs to drdna´s group 2 has to belong to it in optics as well. I still have my Sony Trinitron TV and I find it sad that Agfa positive films and Ilford positive papers are no longer available. On the other hand, is i...

I just installed a pure CD-drive. Same effect. I see two possible reasons:The Media Player adjust its Filter/Upsamplayer algorithm when it detects a hybrid SACD. Hard to believe. Second reason: The recognizable SACDs have a slightly different convers...

Stragely one only gets this effect for hybrid-SACDs that are recognized as that by the Mediaplayer, not all....

Hello! The moronic idea that bad + bad can become good just drove me to playing a hybrid-SACD with the Windows Media Player. First I thought I was right, but then the non-moronic regions of my brain told me this can´t come from the PCM layer...

Hello Romy! The guy you can see in the picture is Mr. Görlich himself. There had been some awards for old Görlich speakers in the CAR sector, and so Mr. Görlich was "exhumated" by a car audio guy. The drivers have rubber surround now, have 4 Ohm ...

Hello!I am very sure the old ones had cloth surround, because there has been some talk about treating dried out surrounds. Among the new ones there is only one with cloth surround. http://www.microprecision.de/6.html Here a link to the ATD remak...

Correction: Most of the current production Görlichs seem to have rubber surround, too. They are not so well-known among DIYers because prices have gone WAY up. There is no 8"er, so the ones I have listened to are old production....

Hello Romy! The drivers with rubber surround you saw/heard were remakes from ATD (those who manufacture the drivers formerly used in the Magico Mini). The original Görlichs have textile surrounds....

Hello Romy!I just listened to this system http://www.hornfabrik-eder.de/index.htm which has an 8" Görlich in the upper bass horn and I couldn´t find anything "inherently faulty" about > 4" without compression. The kettledrums sounde...

Hello Romy,I don´t know how much sensitivity you can sacrifice, but maybe the Visaton Ti 100 could be worth a try. With an EBP of 155 it should be more or less horn-suitable (I didn´t simulate), it has a horribly undampened titanium diaphra...

Romy,I have problems in believing that a noisy clock (the lower-priced CEC drives probably have in contrast to the other drives you mentioned) can do more than covering the faults of the actual implementation (mostly regular time deviations at other ...

Hello Romy! When I listened to the Goebel NXT speaker I was impressed how it can reveal structure or the absence of it at levels where one would really have to concentrate on when listening to a conventional speaker, and I find, ev...

[quote user="vuki"]Hi,Mr. Hiraga said (and it's also in the promo-flyer) that he uses modified GreatPlainsAudio coaxial, although the one in the speakers that were playing music looked more like original Altec 604 (because of the multicell horn). So,...
